Amy is not only a skilled technical professional, but also someone who goes above and beyond her assigned duties. When I worked with her at Emerald Scientific, she frequently volunteered to assist with tasks outside her immediate responsibilities, demonstrating a strong team-oriented mindset. I had the privilege of Amy working on two web portal application projects. The first project I was an IT business analyst and Amy joined as she would be administering the site for the business units and helping with marketing to get our customers excited to use it. For the second project, I stepped into the IT project manager role.

In reviewing lessons learned from the first project, we realized developers spent more time than was desirable customizing our web portal look and feel to mock ups that had been created in a tool like Photoshop or a similar tool. We didn't want to repeat that, and it so happened in addition to the administrator role, Amy had an excellent eye for design and had worked on web projects in the past. Amy stepped in and devised the look and feel of our new portal and provided the look and feel with customized cascading style sheets. 

The result was our development team used Amy's CSS as a reference to jump start development and we were able to implement the second portal much faster and for less money than the first as the developers could spend less time worrying if they had the right color of blue and more time working on the usability of our portal application. 

I believe this was also a benefit to Amy's business group because now the business controlled the look and feel of the portal, and then could easily coordinate it with the look and feel of other marketing slicks. 

Our ability to shorten our development life cycle made our project successful and we were later able to capitalize by using left over funds to provide enhancements above and beyond the original scope of the web portal while staying within budget.

Amy is the type of resource that is very good at a broad range of activities, and her contribution to our portal projects (and support after the fact!) was greatly appreciated.
